Word of the Week: Oxford shirt

Oxford shirt   [n.] \ˈäks-fərd\ a soft durable cotton or synthetic fabric made in plain or basket weaves and sometimes referred to as oxford cloth.

Most guys don’t know that an oxford shirt refers to the fabric of the shirt not the style. If you didn’t know, don’t sweat it. All you need to know is that these Cremieux oxford sportshirts are great for adding casual style to your wardrobe and that the oxford fabrication makes them comfortable and soft.

We love this checked Cremieux oxford sportshirt untucked with these Cremieux relaxed-fit vintage  jeans.  Pair the light blue shirt with dark denim and the rich purple shirt with light-wash jeans. Add a vest or blazer to dress up either look.

For a casual yet preppy day at work pair this striped Cremieux oxford sportshirt with these Cremieux Provence summer flat-front pants. For a more traditional casual look that’s well-suited for work, put one of these solid Cremieux oxford sportshirts with Cremieux travel smart dress pants.

We recently visited with Robert Comstock about his menswear designs and what sets the Vertical line apart from other menswear.

Q. What is the inspiration for Vertical?

A. It is composed of garments I would wear myself. My goal is to provide unique garments that will never leave your closet. Even as time goes by, you will pull it out as a go-to piece, an old friend.

Q. What kind of man is drawn to Vertical?

A. An optimist — a person who sees the glass as half full. He doesn’t look to fashion to define him, but instead he looks to great fashion to accompany him on his journey. He knows his path and knows what he likes when he sees it.

Q. Describe the Vertical Collection in three words.

A. Long-lasting appeal

Q. What is the ultimate message you want to get across through Vertical?

A. Clothing should be enjoyable because of the quality in which it is made — durability — the way it makes one feel when he puts it on.

Q. Who are your major influences?

A. I am not looking to fashion and trends to influence me. It all starts with the fabric. The fabric tells me what it is going to be. I myself don’t know what I am going to design — I get to see what it is going to become.
